What you need
- A Mac.
- A Nizami account, which is free to create.
- A supported roaster, to roast on.
- Prepaid credits for the AI. The app itself is free. See pricing.
From download to first roast
Download the app. It's a free download for macOS.
Open it and sign in. Roast Harness uses a Nizami account, which is free to create.
Connect your roaster. Pick your machine from the supported list and connect it to your Mac.
Add credits. The AI runs on prepaid credits, under Settings → Credits. The smallest top-up is $5.
Describe your first roast. Tell it the coffee and the cup you want, then stay at the machine for the roast.
Before your first roast
Someone stays at the machine from the preheat through the whole roast, with a hand near its power switch, ready to stop the roast and take over. Never run a roast unattended.
Software is not a safety device. Your protection against a stuck element, a stalled fan or a bean fire is the machine's own cut-outs and interlocks, and those must be present and working.
You use Roast Harness with a roasting machine at your own risk. The Terms of Service have the full rules. Need a hand? Support is an email away.
Where it's available
Roast Harness isn't currently offered in mainland China, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. We may change this list as we open new markets.
